I have a special place in my heart for Halloween.
Adults and kids alike have an excuse to eat tons of candy, wear creative costumes and not be judged for it all. Halloween is fun for the sake of fun, and a chance for people to let their imaginations run wild. We all need something like this to look forward to, especially during the pandemic.
Yes, Halloween this year will be different. But even if your family is in quarantine, there are lots of creative and safe ways to celebrate. No trick-or-treating or big Halloween parties does not mean we can’t enjoy the second-biggest holiday of the year. Why not have fun by trying out a new Halloween tradition this year and who knows, maybe it will be a new tradition in the making.
In recent years, the tradition of visiting spookily decorated houses has become more and more popular. These homes are decked out with multi-coloured lights, skeletons, graveyards, eerie noises, and scary monsters – surely they give you a scare! Trick or treat yourself and visit these amazingly decorated homes. This can be done contactless from the safety of your car with friends and family.
There are modern haunted houses popping up in neighbourhoods around Ottawa and they allow for a fun-filled and safe Halloween experience.
Here is a list of Spooky Houses in Ottawa to help you plan your tour:
Yorkwood Place, Barrhaven

Glebe Avenue, The Glebe

Preston Street, Little Italy

Sherwood Drive, Civic Hospital

Dovercourt Avenue, Westboro

Lakeside Avenue, The Glebe

Wow. Those are really spooky examples. Next year I need to do this tour❤️
